Fallen fuel-laden tankers cause heavy traffic on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Multiple tanker accidents in Ojodu Berger, Kara bridge, involving four tankers are causing heavy traffic along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The situation is being managed by Lagos State firefighters and traffic controller, the police, and federal road safety commission to ease vehicular movement.


Details of the incident are still yet unknown but a witness said the fire started after a loud bang.

Man commits suicide after losing boss' N150k to gambling in Bayelsa

An employee reportedly committed suicide in Bayelsa last week, after losing his boss' N150k to gambling in Bayelsa. The Nation reported that the deceased staked the money on a virtual game which lasts less than two minutes and is controlled by computers. The man who was identified simply as Suga used the money realized on the day of the incident to play the virtual game. An eyewitness said; “Suga, not knowing how to explain the situation to his boss, made him to take his own life.” This increases the number of people who have died from betting and gambling since last year in the state to three. Bayelsa police spokesperson Asinim Butswat said though the police is aware of the incident, it has not been reported officially. Butswat said; “The Divisional Police Officer of Bassambri Nembe said the incident was not reported officially to the police. He, however, said they heard about the incident." Source lindaikeji

SARS operatives kill seven police officers in robbery attack

There was pandemonium in Bayelsa and Delta states following the killing of seven policemen in Ughelli, Delta State by Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for allegedly being involved in armed robbery. The seven policemen were reportedly shot dead during a gun battle with the Delta State SARS operatives. According to The Nation, a police sergeant attached to the Bayelsa State command’s armoury was also arrested and transferred to police headquarters, Abuja for allegedly supplying guns to the police robbery suspects. Though the Bayelsa State Command refused to make official statement on the development, sources within the police confirmed that the incident occurred at night on Wednesday last week. The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, Nkereuwem Akpan, reportedly led a team of officers to the Delta State Command to retrieve the bodies of the seven policemen.
