Akeredolu sacks two aides attached to Deputy’s wife, others

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State on Tuesday sacked two aides attached to Ajewole Ajayi, wife of his Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi.

This was contained in a statement by Olusegun Ajiboye, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, and made available to newsmen in Akure.

The affected aides are Omotunmise Tokunbo, Special Assistant to the Wife of the Deputy Governor; and Erifeyiwa Shola Akinnugba, photographer attached to Mrs. Ajayi.

Four other aides of the deputy governor were also relieved of their appointments with immediate effect.

They are Samuel Ogunmusi, Personal Assistant, Deputy Governor; Olomu Bayo, Special Assistant on Special Duties; Olawale Abolade Mukaila, Special Assistant, Photography; and Babatope Okeowo, Deputy Chief Press Secretary.

While wishing them luck in their future endeavours, the statement advised the affected aides to submit all government’s properties in their possession to the Chief of Staff to the Governor.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Akeredolu had earlier on Tuesday sacked Allen Sowore, Special Assistant on New Media to the Deputy Governor. 

Ajayi, who defected from the All Progressives Congress on Sunday in his ward in Apoi at Ese-Odo Local Government  Area of the state, to the Peoples Democratic  Party, vowed that he would not resign his position as Deputy Governor.

Meanwhile, the APC in the state had on Monday urged Ajayi to vacate his position honourably.

Southern Leaders Slam N50bn Suit Against Buhari, Allege Marginalization Of Region

Sixteen elder statesmen and leaders of socio-cultural groups in the southern region of Nigeria, on Monday, dragged President Muhammadu Buhari before the Federal High Court in Abuja, alleging that most appointments since the inception of his administration in 2015 were in breach of the 1999 Constitution and the Federal Character Principle. COVID-19: Nigerian govt gives updates on lockdown

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 on Monday, said it would continue to monitor developments nationwide in order to take informed decisions by the end of June, on the second phase of the lockdown. Boss Mustapha, the chairman of PTF on COVID-19 and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), said this at the daily press briefing on Monday in Abuja.
