Pastor Osagie Ize-iyamu has been declared winner of the Edo State APC governorship primaries with a total of 27,838 votes. Dr. Pius Odubu and Hon Osaro Obaze came behind with a total of 3,776 and 2,724 votes respectively. The results were announced after the APC committee reconvened from a short recess. Oba Market In Benin Gutted By Fire

B Oba Market in Benin, Edo State, has been gutted by fire. The fire was said to have started at midnight and was still being put out as at 9:00am on Monday. “At about 1:00hrs this morning, men of Federal Fire Service Zone K, Edo Command, turned out to combat a raging inferno at Oba Market, Ring Road, Benin City, Edo State. In attendance are Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, NPDC, and UNIBEN fire service,” Federal Fire Service Zone K said in a post on Twitter.  The cause of the fire is still not known as at the time of this report. Govt seals off Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s church

The Akwa Ibom State Government on Sunday sealed off the premises of one of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s churches in Uyo, capital of the State. The State Government sealed off the Christ Embassy Church, Nung Akpa Ime branch in Uyo for alleged attack on the State Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) Compliance Monitoring Team. Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, Secretary to State Government and Chairman of COVID-19 Management Committee made this known in a statement in Uyo on Sunday. Ekuwem said the Church was sealed off for obstructing, attacking and brutalising members of the monitoring team. He added that the sealing off of the Church was due to acts of lawlessness and to avoid the risk of community transmission of Coronavirus. Man 40, Commits Suicide In Ibadan

40-year-old man, Lanre Kazeem, allegedly committed suicide in the early hours of Sunday by hanging himself in his house at Eyin Grammar area of Ibadan.  The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the deceased was living in a rented house, and worked in a private palm kernel company around Soka Ibadan. The incident took many residents of the area by surprise as they expressed their sadness. The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer,(PPRO), SP Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the incident to NAN on Sunday. Fadeyi said the deceased hanged himself in his house and his corpse had been deposited at Adeoyo state hospital’s mortuary.  “The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Sanyo division, has visited the area to see what happened. Vulcanizer Arrested In Ogun For Stealing Female Customer’s Pants

Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 22-year-old vulcanizer, Dele Ope, for allegedly stealing a pair of pants belonging to a female customer. Ope had gone to render a home service to the customer on Sunday when he stole the pants . The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday. Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested following a report by the woman at the Warewa Division in the Ifo Local Government Area of the state. The PPRO added that the complainant reported that she had called Ope to help fix her car’s deflated tyre. According to her, after the vulcanizer had fixed the tyre and left, she discovered that her pair of pants spread on a line in the compound was missing. “Since the vulcanizer was the only person, who came into the compound, she went round in search of him, but he was nowhere to be found,” the PPRO stated. The Ghanaian Government has promised to punished those involved in the demolition of the Nigerian High Commission in Accra. SaharaReporters had reported that some unidentified armed men stormed the building in Accra, the capital city on Friday, demolishing some apartments under construction. The building was being constructed to house staff and visiting diplomats to the High Commission. FCT Administration Warns Commercial Sex Workers, Nightclubs Not To Violate Lockdown Rule

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has warned commercial sex workers and nightclubs operating in the city to stop violating the Coronavirus lockdown order put in place by government to curtail the spread of the deadly disease. Chairman of the FCT Ministerial Enforcement Task Force on COVID-19 Restrictions, Ikharo Attah, handed down the warning over the weekend when the team went round Kubwa, Gwarinpa and Wuse areas of Abuja to monitor the level of compliance to the rule. He said “The presence of the ladies of the night is a violation of the curfew because they are not on the exemption list of essential workers.
